Which recessed can do I need? Use new construction housings when the ceiling is open, and remodel housings to cut in from below. Use IC-rated cans where insulation will touch the housing, and airtight models to reduce air leakage. Then match the trim series and aperture you plan to use, which is listed for each housing.
